2009 KENNEDY CENTER HONORS - DECEMBER 29 ON CBS-TV
Kenny performed at the 32nd annual Kennedy Center Honors celebration in Washington D.C., in a musical tribute to honoree Bruce Springsteen as he was recognized for his lifetime of contributions to the performing arts. Singers Melissa Etheridge, John Mellencamp, Sting, Ben Harper and Jennifer Nettles performed Springsteen hits, with a backing band including Kenny on drums, and led by musical director Rob Mathes. President Barak Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were in attendence at the celebration on December 6, which will air in a two-hour special on CBS-TV on December 29 at 9 PM (ET/PT).
Also honored were Mel Brooks, Dave Brubeck, Grace Bumbry, and Robert DeNiro. The honorees are selected by the Kennedy Center's Board of Trustees based on contributions to American culture through dance, music, opera, theater, movies or television.

SAFETY HARBOR KIDS FUNDRAISER and CD RELEASE PARTY - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17
On Thursday, December 17 Kenny will perform with the Bombastic Meatbats at a special event to support the Safety Harbor Kids organization, at East West Recording Studios in North Hollywood, CA. Also appearing at the event will be a multitude of top musicians on hand to celebrate the release of the Safety Harbor Kids Holiday CD Collection. The CD features a song by Mitch Perry, with Kenny on drums, along with tracks by Shelia E., Jimmy Webb, Billy Idol, Jackson Browne & Inara George, Peabo Bryson and Paige O’Hare, Andy Vargas and a host of others. Safety Harbor Kids is a Malibu charity with the mission of enriching the lives of disadvantaged children. Dedicated to the late drumming photographer Lissa Wales, Sticks ‘n’ Skins opens with a special tribute to her work. CMA AWARDS NOMINATION - JAKE OWEN Congratulations to Jake Owen on his nomination in the New Artist of the Year category of the 2009 Country Music Association Awards. "50 WINTERS LATER" CONCERT On February 2 Kenny joined an all-star house band for the 50 Winters Later concert, part of a weeklong series of events to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Winter Dance Party, where rock and roll pioneers Buddy Holly, J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and Ritchie Valens played their final concert on February 2, 1959.
Presented by The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Surf Ballroom & Museum, the concert featured Kenny and bandmembers Hutch Hutchinson, Bobby Keys, Chuck Leavell and Dan Neale performing with artists including Graham Nash, Dave Mason, Joe Ely, Delbert McClinton, The Crickets, Peter and Gordon, Bobby Vee, Wanda Jackson, and Tommy Allsup.

JOHN FOGERTY CD and DVD DUE IN 2009 Two new John Fogerty releases are due out in 2009. Both feature Kenny on drums and include a new album, titled John Fogerty: The Return of The Blue Ridge Rangers, and the DVD John Fogerty: Comin' Down the Road. The Biography Channel documentary special "Homeward Bound: John Mellencamp" will be re-aired on Thursday, January 22, 2009. The 90-minute program visits Mellencamp’s hometown of Seymour and features interviews with band members including Kenny, as well as childhood friends and other key people in his life, along with archival footage, personal photos, and bonus concert performances. 20TH ANNUAL GUITAR CENTER DRUM-OFF - JANUARY 10, 2009 The 2008 Guitar Center Drum-off finals were held Saturday, January 10 at the historic Music Box at Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. Kenny was among the judges along with Taylor Hawkins, The Rev, Danny Carey, Trevor Lawrence Jr., Drew Hester, Atom Willard, Alan White, and Frank Zummo. Candidates from a field of 5,000 survived contests at hundreds of Guitar Center stores across the country to compete at the finals, and Jerome Flood II was crowned the winner. The evening was hosted by Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, and featured performances by Jason Bittner, Nicko McBrain, Thomas Pidgeon, Thomas Lang and Papa Roach. WALTER TROUT CD NOMINDATED FOR BLUES MUSIC AWARD
Walter Trout’s critically acclaimed 2008 release The Outsider has been nominated by The Blues Foundation and the Blues Music Awards for Rock Blues Album of the Year. The album features 13 Walter Trout originals, with a backing band including Kenny along wih bassist Hutch Hutchinson, pianist Jon Clearly, and Skip Edwards. The 30th Blues Music Awards will be held May 7, 2009 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center in downtown Memphis, TN.
